A referendum to repeal the Eighth is FINALLY coming\, and now is the time to get talking to your friends and family to secure their support. \nThis workshop will help you to figure out how to raise the topic\, navigate tricky questions\, and give you a chance to ask questions you’re unsure of. \nLondon-Irish Abortion Rights Campaign are hosting two short workshops in Central London on the evening of Monday December 11th in groups of 20. \nThe workshops will be delivered by Mairead Enright\, a law lecturer who has been active in the campaign to repeal the Eighth amendment and has recently published a book on repeal. The workshops will aim to prepare you with the information and confidence to discuss repeal openly and confidently and help to win some votes over Christmas. \nMairead is an expert at navigating those tricky questions and with her background in teaching\, is an ideal person to deliver these workshops. \nThese workshops are open to everyone. There is no charge for attending; there will be a donations bowl for Abortion Support Network.

So far they have raised approx €1.5k\, thanks to all their brilliant vendors and everybody else’s donations.  \nThis time is right for the Christmas edition\, taking place on Saturday 9th December in the Workman’s Club\, Wellington Quay (enter through Bison Bar).  \nHow it works: \n∙ It costs €30 to rent a stall\, the entriety of which goes to ARC. Any income vendors receive is for them to keep unless they wish to make a further donation.\n∙ As well\, the suggested entry donation is €1. \nThere are so many stellar vendors lined-up including The HunReal Issuesand the Abortion Rights Campaign. DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Alliance for Choice Derry \nPlayhouse Theatre\, Derry \nOverview (written by Alliance for Choice Derry)\nIt’s 50 years since the Abortion Act was passed in Britain and 20 years since a group of people got together in Derry to set up Alliance for Choice. Now\, it’s 2017 and we are still fighting for choice.  \nThis conference aims to give activists old and new a chance to discuss what activity we should initiate over the next year – and a chance to hear from some great speakers\, local and international. Many of the issues we will be discussing were not on the agenda 20 years ago – like abortion pills that people can take at home to cause an abortion themselves\, and the rights of Trans women. \nMuch has moved on from 1997 – attitudes to abortion have improved greatly\, with only about one in 9 people saying that abortion should never be available\, while 3 out of 4 think that abortion should be legal for much the same reasons as it is in Britain.  \nToday\, women in Northern Ireland can cause their own abortions using pills obtained over the internet and\, since July 2017\, abortions for women from here are available free on the NHS. Activists here now want a more up-to-date law than the 1967 Act….although we would be happy to accept it as a stop-gap measure….most importantly\, we want to see abortion taken out of the criminal law and to be treated as the health care it is.

DESCRIPTION:Pro-Choice Wexford will run our inaugural fund-raising table quiz on 22nd November\, kindly hosted by Sinnott’s Bar in Bishopswater. Tables of four will cost €20\, i.e. €5 a head. Come on your own and we’ll sort a team for you\, or come with pals and we’ll sort the chairs! Spot prizes on the night!  \nWe will also be running a collection point for Wexford Women’s Refuge on the night. Please bring anything you can\, at the moment they are especially looking for: Children’s pyjamas; sanitary products; household cleaning supplies\, and all other donations gladly accepted (second-hand clothes etc.). The only items they cannot accept are toys and car-seats\, and they don’t have room for prams\, however we could take your number and contact you when they need one.  \nPlease share widely and we’ll make this a successful night\, building on our successful Open Meeting!!
