This is the second woman in a month who will be prosecuted under the archaic Offenses Against the Person Act of 1861.  \n \n\nThe pills she bought\, Mifepristone and Misoprostol are on the World Health Organization’s list of essential drugs; these drugs are not poison. These are the same drugs used for medical abortions in the rest of the UK. \n\nWe stand in solidarity with the women in Northern Ireland and ask people to attend a rally to show support. \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The 4th Annual March for Choice will take place in Dublin on Saturday September 26th marking the Global Day of Action for Access to Safe and Legal Abortion. \nThe landslide vote for Marriage Equality and the passage of the Gender Recognition Bill earlier this year\, demonstrates clearly\, the huge appetite for change and progress in this country. This will be the last March for Choice before the next general election\, so we must make it clear – securing our vote will mean making a commitment to Repeal the 8th amendment\, so that we can take a step closer to securing free\, safe and legal access to abortion in Ireland. \n\nThe March will kick off at 2 pm in Dublin at the Garden of Remembrance (assembling from 1.30pm)\, and like last year\, we are asking that you bring a wheelie case if possible to make the effort and sound of travel abundantly clear!

SUMMARY:Abortion Rights Campaign Flashback Afternoon
DESCRIPTION:To coincide with the inaugural Women to Blame exhibition at Filmbase in Tempblebar Dublin 2\, Abortion Rights Campaign will host an afternoon on abortion rights herstory from 2-5pm on 8th November 2014. A range of activities are provided for all ages so drop on down! \nWe are taking our biweekly stall to the exhibition venue to provide a blast to the past – to the year 1983 exactly when a referendum voted in favour of the insertion of the 8th Amendment into the Irish Constitution that has denied abortion rights in Ireland ever since. For people who weren’t eligible to vote in that year\, you can come and cast your No vote in our gigantic Ballot Box to the tune of your favourite 80’s hits (requests welcome!) We will also have our petition to Repeal the 8th available to sign for anyone who wants to support us to the call for a referendum to remove this outdated amendment. \nFor anyone unfamiliar with the herstory of abortion rights activism since the 1970’s\, our interpreters are hosting tours of the exhibition every half an hour to provide some insight into the politics\, projects and pop culture of the period. Each tour will take 30-40 minutes and participants are welcome to ask questions or share your knowledge from events with tour groups. \nAfter your tour\, you can make your own paper souveneir with the assistance of our retro facilitators. Each souveneir will be constructed from artefacts from the decades on show. \nThis event is free to all. 80’s dress is optional (but very encouraged!!) DESCRIPTION:The September 28 Day Global Day of Action for Access to Safe and Legal Abortion is a global\ncampaign wherein individuals and organisations in different countries\, simultaneously mobilise\non September 28 through various actions\, for the same demands- decriminalise abortion\,\nprovide access to safe and affordable abortion services and end stigma and discrimination\ntowards women who choose to have an abortion. \nIn Northern Ireland access is often illegal and other options are prohibitively expensive\, against a backdrop of non-progressive governance and religious conservatism. Alliance for Choice plans to inform women about the options currently available to them – until they can effect a change in the current restrictive legislation.
