SUMMARY:Choosing Choice: Packing Up Stigma Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Choosing Choice: Packing Up Stigma Exhibition features photographic works from ‘Against the Tide’ by Rose Comiskey (Ireland)\, ‘When They Hold Their Hands Out Like Scales’ by Emma Campbell (Northern Ireland) and digitised print works from ‘Good Women Have Abortions’ by Heather Ault (USA) with curatorial support by Jennette Donnelly. \nHOW TO PARTICIPATE: The public is invited to contribute to the show in a drop-in mixed-media workshop from 14:00 – 20:30 on Thursday 26th September hosted by the Abortion Rights Campaign at The Exchange\, Templebar\, Dublin 2. \nYou don’t need to be an artist to pack a suitcase so anyone can take part! The outcomes of this workshop will be presented as part of the installation ‘Choosing Choice: Packing Up Stigma’; a collection of cases packed with stories\, artefacts and representations confronting the stigma and silence associated with abortion experiences\, particularly for those who have had to travel abroad due to the restrictions placed on access to abortion services on the island of Ireland. DESCRIPTION:Many doctors in Ireland are pro-choice but have little opportunity to meet like minded colleagues. This results in doctors being isolated and often silent about their opinions and experience. Doctors For Choice are a holding a conference which aims to address the experience of being a pro choice doctor in Ireland. Our aim is to facilitate discussion and the sharing of opinions amongst colleagues of broadly similar opinions. The purpose is to provide support and build networks rather than recruit members. DESCRIPTION:The September 28 Day Global Day of Action for Access to Safe and Legal Abortion is a global\ncampaign wherein individuals and organisations in different countries\, simultaneously mobilise\non September 28 through various actions\, for the same demands- decriminalise abortion\,\nprovide access to safe and affordable abortion services and end stigma and discrimination\ntowards women who choose to have an abortion. \nIn Northern Ireland access is often illegal and other options are prohibitively expensive\, against a backdrop of non-progressive governance and religious conservatism. Alliance for Choice plans to inform women about the options currently available to them – until they can effect a change in the current restrictive legislation.

DESCRIPTION:For those who are tired after a good days marching\, or those who can’t make it  – Dublin Nights for Choice are holding a ‘March for Choice’ after party in Toners Pub on Baggot st\, directly after the march! \nThere is no entrance fee\, but there will be collection buckets going around for the Abortion Support Network – a charity which helps Irish women access abortions in the UK. \nSo come on down and mingle with other pro-choicers! Celebrate after the march with your mates – and the more the merrier\, as the venue is massive. If the day is anything like last year the mood will be ELECTRIC! We hope to see you there!
